Canberra Milk and the community

For decades Canberra Milk has been a local favourite, resonating with local Canberrans not only because they see it in their fridge each day, but because the company is local and gives back to the community.

While the many Canberra dairies of the past have disappeared, the milk is locally sourced from the region and processed here, with the company employing over 70 people.

On the sporting field they have an association with the Canberra Raiders (NRL), and in 2021 will once again be the team’s main sponsor, with the Milk logo taking pride of place on the front of the famous lime green jerseys. The organisation also supports the ACT Brumbies (Rugby), the Canberra Cavalry (Baseball), and the Giants (AFL), as well as being strong supporters of women’s sport in the ACT, including the Canberra Capitals (basketball) and Canberra United (soccer). They are also heavily involved in local-level youth sport.

Other community partnerships which Canberra Milk support include Domestic Violence Crisis Services, Marymead, St Vincent De Paul and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The organisation has also partnered with the Early Morning Centre in Canberra, Canberra Agricultural Show, and the Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter service, as well as local fetes, school fundraising, and charities.

While the old dairies no longer exist here, their legacy – that of great tasting milk and local connections to people and place – remain in the work of Capitol Chilled Foods and their iconic brand, Canberra Milk.
